Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking two Transportation Technician 3 positions to support the Olympic Region’s Tumwater Design Office in highway design project delivery. You will assist with design documentation, plans, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure quality and safety.

The role involves field visits to project sites, potential hybrid remote work options, and collaboration with design staff to maintain standards and ensure accurate records throughout

Qualifications

• Read, analyze, and interpret engineering plans, specifications, contract documents, manuals, and data; identify issues and apply judgment.
• Use engineering software and digital tools to support design, analysis, documentation, inspection and project delivery.
• Document engineering, inspection, survey, materials, or project activities according to standards and procedures.
• Demonstrate a growth mindset and service-oriented approach to support others.

Responsibilities

• Provide CAD/PS&E support for plans, specifications, and estimates per WSDOT standards.
• Develop and revise plan sheets, exhibits, alignments, profiles, cross sections and quantity calculations.
• Prepare roadway, drainage, utility, signing, pavement marking, traffic control and right-of-way elements.
• Prepare and maintain design documentation, reports, exhibits, and cost estimates.
• Review drafting and project records for accuracy and quality control.
• Maintain electronic project files and version control.
• Perform quantity calculations and prepare quantity tabulations and contract estimates.
• Conduct field reviews to verify conditions and support safety compliance.
