Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) seeks a Transportation Technician 3 to join the Olympia Project Engineer Office, supporting highway design projects with CAD, plan sheets, and quantity calculations.

Your role includes preparing design docs, reviewing calculations, documenting activities, and maintaining project records, while promoting safety and quality in a collaborative, inclusive environment across Washington state.

Qualifications

• Advanced skills in Windows-based systems and MS Office.
• Engineering principles applied to transportation projects.
• Experience with CAD and project documentation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design documentation, contract plans, specs, and PS&E.
• Develop plan sheets, exhibits, and documentation for alignments and drainage.
• Review calculations, plans, and records for accuracy and compliance.
• Document activities, track work, and maintain project records.
• Create engineering drawings, base maps, and PS&E documents using CAD.
• Prepare quantity calculations and engineering documentation.
• Conduct field reviews and verify existing conditions for quality control.
• Promote safety and provide general office/field support.
