Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

The Quality Manager leads the quality management system for OTR's Evansville operations. This role is accountable for QMS compliance, audit readiness, customer and supplier quality, new product introduction, root-cause resolution, continuous improvement, and quality performance reporting. The manager partners with operations, engineering, supply chain, procurement, and customers to prevent nonconformances and improve product reliability.

Essential Functions:

• Leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality processes and associated documentation for the Evansville facilities.
• Schedules and facilitates internal, external, supplier, and customer audits; coordinates corrective actions and verifies timely closure.
• Ensures control plans, FMEAs, and related documentation are effectively implemented and maintained.
• Maintains compliance with applicable ISO 9001, IATF 16949, customer-specific, legal, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensures incoming materials meet defined quality standards and specifications; identifies, contains, and promptly resolves issues to minimize customer impact.
• Collaborates with supply chain and procurement to improve supplier quality and performance.
• Visits customers and suppliers as needed to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and maintain effective communication.
• Establishes mechanisms to collect and analyze customer feedback and translate findings into quality improvements.
• Facilitates root-cause analysis and corrective-action workshops with internal teams, suppliers, and subject-matter experts.
• Develops and implements risk-mitigation plans and process improvements that reduce scrap, rework, PPM, warranty complaints, and customer zero-mile issues.
• Recommends a production stop to operations leadership when unacceptable product or processes create a quality or safety risk; supports containment and restart decisions.
• Supports new product introductions and production readiness, including APQP, PPAP, and quality core-tool deliverables.
• Sets short-and long-term quality objectives for Evansville operations and drives continuous improvement.
• Develops and delivers quality training for employees, suppliers, and partners.
• Supervises Quality department personnel and coaches facility managers and staff on quality expectations and problem solving.
• Establishes and reports KPIs such as scrap, rework, PPM, warranty complaints, audit findings corrective-action closure, and supplier performance.
• Performs other duties as assigned based on company needs and employee capabilities

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or a comparable field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in QA, QC, or QMS leadership, with experience coordinating quality programs.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, control plans, and quality core tools.
• Experience implementing and maintaining a quality management system in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, project-management, and stakeholder-influence

skills.

• Knowledge of manufacturing operations and the ability to work effectively across office and production environments.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Master's degree in a related field.
• Certified Quality Manager (CQM).
• This position operates in a professional office environment and is regularly exposed to manufacturing conditions, including forklift traffic, fumes, noise, and operating equipment.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

• This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required to meet customer and operational needs.

Travel

• Some travel is expected and may include occasional day trips and overnight stays for supplier visits, customer needs, training activities, audits, and assigned OTR locations.
