Job summary

General Motors in Rochester, NY is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to support a highly automated, three-shift manufacturing operation. You will work with Manufacturing, Process, Product, Mechanical and Controls Engineering to assure quality from development through manufacturing and into the field.

The role emphasizes analytical problem solving, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced, high-technology environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field(s).
• Ability to understand and assess complex Engineering issues.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering solutions that result in Continuous Improvement in the areas of Safety, Uptime, and Quality.
• Use data to identify process conditions and develop solutions.
• Early issue identification, problem-solving, and corrective action tracking and resolution.
• Summarize and evaluate reject and defect data to drive continuous improvement.
• Provide statistical analysis of manufacturing process data.
• Critical role in change management to assure no effect on product quality.
• Verify compliance to quality requirements and procedures.
• Communication and coordinate information to and from internal and external customers.
• Collaborate cross functionally to develop creative solutions.
• Remain flexible and at times work extended and non-core hours to ensure issues are worked to resolution.
• Support corporate and local Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) goals related to Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment.
