Job summary

Johnson Controls in Lubbock, TX seeks a Quality Engineer to lead end-to-end quality assurance for industrial processes, materials and products. You will drive improvements toward Zero Defects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and PPAP requirements.

Ideal candidates have NPI/APQP experience, PFMEA expertise, and a strong process-driven mindset with Six Sigma and SPC knowledge. Join a team focused on safety, quality, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 2+ years in an ISO/TS manufacturing environment required.
  • Proven root cause problem-solving experience with 8D, Six Sigma, Mistake Proofing and SPC.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and the ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and APQP including PPAP.
  • Resilient with a process-driven approach to quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end quality assurance for industrial processes, materials and products.
  • Drive Zero Defects goals using PFMEA, Mistake Proofing and robust Control Plans.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to reduce CoPQ and EPPM via structured problem solving.
  • Maintain ISO 9001 QMS and support internal and external audits.
  • Plan analyses, inspection, testing and process controls to assure product quality.
  • Oversee APQP stage gates and PPAP for new products/processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of quality codes and standards.

What Will You Do

This position plans and conducts activities concerned with the end-to-end quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties:

How You Will Do It
  • Lead improvement of processes and products with the goal of Zero Defects through enhanced Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (pFMEA), Mistake Proofing techniques, and robust Control Plans.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) and EPPM (External parts per million) through structured root cause problem-solving activities such as 8D and Six Sigma.
  • Improve and sustain the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, including performance of internal system audits and/or layered process audits, as well as support external audits.
  • Plan and oversee the analysis, inspection, testing, and other process controls to assure the quality of the factory products or components to meet specification.
  • Lead assigned Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) stage gate quality deliverables for new product/process development and Engineering Change Notification (ECN) projects including Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Maintain a working knowledge of necessary government and industry quality codes and standards to ensure product compliance.
Required
What we look for
  • English language proficiency (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering)
  • Minimum 2 years of related Quality Engineering experience in an ISO/TS certified manufacturing environment
  • Strong background of root cause problem-solving including knowledge of 8D, Six Sigma, Mistake Proofing, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and standards.
  • Prior experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) techniques including Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Demonstrated strengths of resiliency and process focus implementing Quality standards and best practices.
Preferred
  • Bilingual (English primary, Spanish secondary)
  • Master’s Degree (Engineering, Business, or Quality)
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification
Hiring Salary Range

$67,900.00 - $101,900.00 USD Annual (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
