Russell Tobin is partnering with a materials science organization to identify a Quality Control Technician for an opportunity near Cottage Grove, MN. This 12-month contract is fully onsite.

Shift is a 12-hour rotating schedule (6:00 AM - 6:00 PM). Pay range is $22-25/hr, depending on experience. Responsibilities include analytical testing, data reporting, instrument calibration, and collaboration with engineers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in systems for the reporting and analysis of data in laboratory settings.
• Proficiency with titrations, gas chromatography, and liquid chromatography.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
• Basic understanding of statistical principles relevant to quality control.
• Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Quality Control Technician will work in an analytical chemistry laboratory, responsible for ensuring the quality of materials from a chemical factory and pilot plant.
• Testing will be done on incoming raw materials, in-process samples, and final samples for product release.
• Perform and report results of analytical testing for quality control of manufactured products and input raw materials.
• Calibrate analytical instrumentation, evaluate new test methods for R&D teams, and conduct measurement systems analyses.
• Independently prioritize incoming testing and other quality control needs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, chemists, and technicians to communicate testing status and any out-of-spec results.
• May perform minor troubleshooting on equipment and may escalate to others for complex issues.
• Will likely work a rotating schedule that includes overnight shifts.

Responsibilities

• Quality Control Technician will work in an analytical chemistry laboratory, responsible for ensuring the quality of materials coming from both a major chemical factory and a chemical pilot plant.
• Testing will be done on incoming raw materials, in-process samples, and final samples that are tested as part of product release.
• Perform and report the results of analytical testing for quality control purposes on manufactured products and their input raw materials
• Perform other quality control activities including calibrating analytical instrumentation, evaluating new test methods for R&D teams, and conducting measurement systems analyses
• Be responsible for independently prioritizing incoming testing and other quality control needs
• Collaborating with manufacturing engineers, chemists, and other technicians to communicate the status of testing, any challenges encountered in testing, and any out-of-specification results
• May perform minor troubleshooting on equipment and instrumentation to resolve anomalies and may escalation to conduct troubleshooting alongside other staff
• Will likely work a rotating schedule that includes overnight shifts

Minimum candidate qualifications and experience

• High school diploma/GED or higher required
• Experience in systems for the reporting and analysis of data in laboratory settings
• Proficiency with the following analytical technical skill sets and the sample preparation techniques required for each: titrations, gas chromatography, and liquid chromatography
• Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 software platform including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
• Basic understanding of statistical principles relevant to quality control
• Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in the physical sciences, biology, or engineering preferred
• Proficiency with one or more of the following analytical technical skill sets and the sample preparation techniques required for each: inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, viscometry/rheology
• ASQ certification as a quality technician
