Job summary

Russell Tobin is seeking a laboratory specialist to perform hands-on sample preparation and analytic testing in support of R&D and materials programs. The role emphasizes titration, ICP/IC analyses, and meticulous data handling using Metrohm software.

You will prepare samples and standards, maintain solvents, document procedures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field with 3+ years in industrial or QC labs,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field.
• 3+ years in industrial or QC laboratory experience.
• 3+ years of sample preparation in QA/R&D lab setting.
• Hands-on titration experience including stock solutions, standards, molarity, normality, dilutions.
• Experience with ICP and IC analysis.
• Strong general laboratory techniques and pipetting skills.
• Experience with LIMS and laboratory documentation systems.
• Metrohm software experience preferred.
• Polymer prep/handling experience preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on sample preparation and analytical testing to support R&D and material testing programs.
• Execute wet chemistry techniques, with a strong focus on titrations, and support Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) and Ion Chromatography (IC) analysis.
• Prepare samples, stock solutions, standards, and dilutions with a high level of accuracy and precision.
• Perform data analysis and utilize Metrohm software for analytical testing and results management.
• Maintain solvents and mobile phases to ensure consistency and quality.
• Document sample preparation, experimental parameters, observations, and results according to approved procedures and SOPs.
• Utilize LIMS for laboratory documentation and data management.
• Support the development and improvement of test methods.
• Create written procedures, technical reports, and other laboratory documentation.
• Perform routine instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain chemical inventory and support appropriate chemical disposal procedures.
• Collaborate with senior technical personnel and cross-functional R&D teams to complete assignments and resolve issues.
• Adapt to changing priorities and learn new instrumentation, operating systems, and laboratory techniques as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field.
• 3+ years of industrial or QC laboratory experience.
• 3+ years of sample preparation experience in a QA or R&D laboratory setting.
• Hands-on experience with titration, including preparation of stock solutions, standards, molarity, normality, and dilutions.
• Experience with Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) and Ion Chromatography (IC).
• Strong understanding of general laboratory techniques, pipetting, and analytical testing.
• Experience with LIMS and laboratory documentation systems.
• Experience with Metrohm software preferred.
• Polymer preparation, handling, and properties experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing timelines and priorities.

Location model: 100% onsite – Maplewood, MN
