Job summary

Safeway in Tracy, CA seeks a QC Inspector for Produce/Floral and Meat departments to ensure quality and safety across perishable goods. This full-time, in-person role requires attention to SOPs, data entry, and collaboration with Procurement.

Responsibilities include inspecting items, maintaining records, reporting QA findings, and assisting in banana ripening and temperature control. Candidate should have a high school diploma and 1 year QA/warehouse experience; weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• 4-year college degree in food science/agribusiness or equivalent related industry experience.
• Retail produce and floral knowledge and USDA/CFIA Inspection experience helpful.
• Warehouse/receiving experience.
• Fresh produce or floral growing, packing and/or harvesting a benefit.
• Good management skills and ability to relate with diverse workforce.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.
• Basic math skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to differentiate between colors.
• Ability to work in 34 to 38 degree temperatures for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift/move boxes up to 75 lbs. and up to 6 feet high.
• Ability to work on rotating weekends and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Inspect produce and floral items per SOPs for compliance.
• Use and maintain analytical tools.
• Enter Quality data into database and complete documentation accurately.
• Report QA information to Procurement.
• Resolve receiving issues related to quality and quantity promptly.
• Work with QC management to reconcile issues to avoid stockouts.
• Assist in banana ripening.
• Coordinate with warehouse staff on product quality, packs, and temperatures.
• Monitor inventory daily and report older perishable items.
• Other duties as required by management.
