Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to ensure top-quality produce. You will monitor on-hand stock, manage ripening, inspect outbound and inbound perishable fruit and vegetables, and prepare inventory reports for the Produce Purchasing team.

The role requires a high school diploma, 1-3 years in fresh produce or retail, and the ability to work physically in a warehouse environment, including lifting and long hours. Night/weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years of similar or related work experience preferred; fresh produce/retail exposure helpful.

Responsibilities

• Monitors merchandise on hand and ensures freshness is maintained.
• Controls the ripening of fruit and vegetables.
• Inspects quality of all outbound fruits and vegetables.
• Inspects inbound perishable product.
• Prepares reports on soft fruit, bananas, and aged inventory.
• Works with receivers to ensure quality of merchandise.
• Reports to work when scheduled and works expected number of hours.
