Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 2 years college in biology or related field strongly preferred.
• 1 year of relevant laboratory experience required.
• Must learn and use complex computer system for specimen tracking, labeling, worksheet generation.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel (beyond simple data entry).
• Experience with operating laboratory instruments such as automated measurement instruments.
• Critical thinking and ability to implement corrective actions when needed.
• Must adhere to established laboratory policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare clinical samples and products for testing, including accessioning and processing.
• Set up instruments for automated laboratory tasks and maintain them.
• Maintain reagents and replenish supplies; perform cleaning and routine maintenance.
• Document and transcribe quality control measures and environmental readings.
• Train back-up staff as necessary and assist or substitute for other staff as needed.
• May perform other tasks such as stocking supplies, inventory management, and lab maintenance.
