Salado Isolation Mining Contractors (SIMCO) is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician - Trainee at the WIPP site in Carlsbad, NM. The role emphasizes complex visual and dimensional inspections, nondestructive testing, and participation in assessments to ensure compliance with procedures and acceptance criteria.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, weld inspection experience, and the ability to obtain a DOE badge; this is a USW bargaining unit role with SIMCO membership

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Documentation validating weld inspection training/experience and dimensioning skills required.
• Welding/weld inspection experience required for non-USW members.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex visual inspections and dimensional measurements.
• Conduct nondestructive inspections according to procedures and evaluate results.
• Participate in assessments and document activities on approved schedules.
• Perform receipt inspections for vendor items and may conduct source inspections.
• Travel as required and meet site vision requirements; work on elevated platforms.
