Job summary

SIMCO, LLC, the managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), seeks a Quality Assurance Analyst/Specialist in Los Alamos, NM.

Overview

Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste. Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Quality Assurance Analyst/Specialist and join our team located in Los Alamos, NM at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to qualify as a Nuclear Qualified Assurance - 1 (NQA) Lead Auditor and perform assessments. Will be responsible for developing checklists, assessment plans, and assessment reports based on upper tier requirements. Perform quality assurance review of procedure and procurement documents for compliance with the applicable quality program requirements. Assist in the maintenance and development of the technical, administrative, and programmatic documents related to the implementation of NQA-1/10CFR830 compliant program. Travel to lead and participate in assessments if needed. Write clear and organized reports and other documents that effectively communicate ideas, solutions, and status of projects.

Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree, or
• Associate’s degree with four (4) years of experience, or
• High School Diploma or Equivalency with eight (8) years of experience is required.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without SIMCO visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the WIPP Site (even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge).
• Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns—including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries – are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.

Preferred Requirements

Definition of Experience:

• Must have strong interface skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction.
• Strong oral and written communications, audit/surveillance skills including prior NQA-1 Lead Auditor Certification or American Society for Quality Certification is desired.

Salary Range

$70,972 to $133,850 per year. Exempt grade level(s) 28-31. The specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
