Job summary

SIMCO, LLC is seeking a Construction/Maintenance, Safety, & Health Manager for the WIPP site in Carlsbad, NM. The role emphasizes leading safety programs, inspections, and training to protect workers at a nuclear waste repository.

The position requires extensive construction safety experience, the ability to analyze incidents, and collaboration with subcontractors and project managers to maintain compliant safety plans. DOE badge access and security clearances may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 15+ years of professional experience, or
  • Associate’s Degree with 19 years of professional experience, or
  • High School Diploma with 23 years of professional experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular safety & health inspections and recommend corrective actions
  • Provide training to employees on safety procedures and PPE
  • Investigate accidents, identify root causes and implement preventive measures
  • Coordinate with project managers to develop site-specific safety plans
  • Monitor subcontractors' safety performance and enforce compliance with safety requirements
  • Oversee maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and ensure availability and effectiveness
  • Stay up to date with new safety regulations and industry best practices
  • Coordinate with external agencies during safety inspections and audits
