Job summary

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO) in Carlsbad, NM seeks a Nuclear Safety Program Manager to lead the WIPP Nuclear Safety Basis Development Team and drive safety documentation updates and TSR changes in compliance with 10 CFR 830.204 using safe harbor methods.

The role involves interfacing with management and site organizations, ensuring timely reviews, and developing careers of Nuclear Safety personnel while maintaining communication with internal/external customers.

Qualifications

• Experience in DOE Facility Safety Basis development, implementation or maintenance.
• Must be able to obtain WIPP Manager/Supervisor Qualification (MGMT-01) within two years of start date.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without SIMCO visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be able to obtain a DOE badge for access to the WIPP Site.
• Minimum age 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Support Nuclear Safety Engineering team day-to-day activities and priorities.
• Lead the Nuclear Safety Basis Development Team and approve safety basis documents.
• Manage changes to the WIPP DSA and TSR to meet DOE requirements.
• Communicate progress and plans with internal and external customers.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Work Control, Operations, QA, Maintenance and Regulatory Environmental Services.
