Job summary

Clayton Services in Houston is seeking a QA/QC Engineer to oversee quality assurance, inspections, and electrical testing of industrial control panels and power distribution equipment. You will ensure compliance with UL 508A, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and customer requirements while supporting continuous improvement.

The role demands strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematic reading, and documentation practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 8+ years in electrical QA/QC, panel manufacturing, or industrial electrical systems.
• Experience with control panels, motor control panels, PLC panels and power distribution equipment.
• Experience with electrical inspections, testing, and FAT.
• UL-certified electrical panel manufacturing experience preferred.
• ISO 9001 knowledge preferred.
• AutoCAD Electrical / EPLAN / SolidWorks Electrical preferred.
• PLC-based control systems and instrumentation knowledge preferred.
• UL 698A and hazardous-location knowledge preferred.
• ASQ CQE/CQI certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain QA/QC procedures for electrical panel manufacturing.
• Inspect electrical control, motor control, and power distribution panels throughout fabrication.
• Ensure compliance with UL 508A, NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, and related standards.
• Verify wiring, placement, labeling, grounding, torque specs, and workmanship against drawings.
• Develop and maintain inspection and test plans (ITPs) for panel shop operations.
• Perform electrical testing including continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing.
• Review FAT procedures and results; coordinate FAT activities with customers.
• Identify and resolve nonconforming materials and workmanship.
• Review schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and BOMs for accuracy.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and project management to resolve issues.
• Maintain inspection reports, testing records, NCRs, and quality docs.
• Support audits and UL panel shop certification requirements.
• Coordinate customer inspections, witness testing, and FAT as required.
• Develop corrective and preventive actions to reduce defects and rework.
• Provide technical guidance and training to panel shop personnel.
