Job summary

Quest Defense is seeking a Software Engineer to support Python-based engineering software applications in a customer-facing environment. The role is hybrid, with initial onboarding on-site for 2–4 weeks before ongoing onsite needs, and involves designing, building, and maintaining code within a customer team.

The ideal candidate should have solid Python skills, a strong software development foundation, and experience with Git.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience writing, debugging, testing, and maintaining original application code.
• Experience with source/version control tools such as Git.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative software development team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• US Person status.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications using Python.
• Develop original application code to meet engineering and customer requirements.
• Work within an existing customer software development team to implement new capabilities and enhancements.
• Translate engineering and user requirements into functional software solutions.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, configuration management, and software release activities.
• Follow established software development practices and customer processes.
• Collaborate with engineers, software developers, and customer stakeholders.
• Develop maintainable, documented, and reusable code.
• Support application integration and testing as required.
