Job summary

Quest Global in Austin, TX is seeking a Software Engineer (Backend Engineer- Python) to design, develop, and maintain web applications with a strong emphasis on frontend and backend integration. You will collaborate with product managers and designers to deliver scalable modules, while applying best practices in software engineering and DevOps.

The role is on-site in Austin, with a focus on Python backend work alongside Node.js and React-based front-end components.

Qualifications

Experience designing and developing web applications with frontend emphasis.
Strong experience with React, Javascript/Typescript, HTML/CSS.
Proficient in consuming REST APIs and HTTP responses.
Experience with backend services (Node.js).
Relational database basics (SQL).
Git proficiency and collaboration in teams.
Basic understanding of containers and DevOps (Docker/Kubernetes/AWS/CI/CD).
Strong debugging and analytical thinking.

Responsibilities

Estimate, plan, and implement software development work.
Collaborate with product manager to gather requirements for new modules.

What You Will Do

Experience with designing and developing web applications with an emphasis on frontend
Strong experience with frontend web technologies and frameworks - React, Javascript/Typescript, HTML/CSS
Proficient with consuming REST APIs and handling all HTTP responses
Experience with backend web services frameworks - Node.js
Some experience with relational databases - SQL
Strong experience with Git, Bug tracking, and collaborating with a software team
Basic understanding of Containerization and DevOps processes (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD)
Strong debugging and diagnostic skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills
Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking skills

Experience working with a cross-disciplinary team of PMs, designers and other developers

What You Will Bring

Estimate, plan, and implement software development work.
Work closely with product manager to gather requirements to build new modules or improve existing modules.
Evaluate, maintain and improve existing code base to ensure that it is properly structured and utilize software engineering best practices.
Troubleshoot, identify, and research reported issues, and have the ability to provide recommendations by comparing advantages and disadvantages of various solutions.
Stay on top of new technologies and tools, and adopt relevant ones to the team.
Participate in peer reviews, learn and apply software engineering best practices to your work.
Accountable for meeting assigned project objectives and timelines.
Set engineering vision and direction for existing and future applications.

Pay Range:

$100,000-$115,000 per annum

Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.

Work Requirements

This role is considered an on-site position located in Austin, TX USA

You must be able to commute to and from the location with your own transportation arrangements to meet the required working hours.
Shop floor environment, which may include but not limited to extensive walking, and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
