e&e is seeking a Purchasing Manager for a hybrid direct placement opportunity in Pittsburgh, PA!
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to support the continued growth of a manufacturing organization. This is a strategic, individual contributor position responsible for managing the full procurement lifecycle, including sourcing, supplier negotiations, purchase order management, expediting, and supplier performance.
The Purchasing Manager will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Sales, and Supply Chain to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and production components while identifying cost-saving opportunities and optimizing supplier relationships. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing procurement experience, extensive ERP knowledge, and a strategic sourcing mindset. This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing and requires approximately 10% domestic travel for supplier visits and occasional travel to another manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement activities for raw materials, production components, capital equipment, and contract services.
- Lead sourcing activities from RFQ development and supplier evaluation through negotiation, purchase order issuance, delivery, and supplier management.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize relationships with an established supplier base to improve pricing, quality, delivery, and overall supplier performance.
- Negotiate supplier pricing, contracts, terms, lead times, and delivery schedules.
- Identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities through strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, market research, and purchasing strategies.
- Create, manage, and track purchase orders through the ERP system.
- Proactively expedite orders and work with suppliers to resolve delivery issues to ensure materials arrive on schedule.
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Sales, and Supply Chain teams to support production schedules, material requirements, and inventory objectives.
- Research suppliers, market conditions, pricing trends, and alternative sourcing opportunities.
- Resolve purchasing, receiving, invoicing, and supplier-related discrepancies.
- Monitor supplier performance and support continuous improvement and supplier development initiatives.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier information, pricing, contracts, and purchasing documentation.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, applicable regulations, and sourcing requirements.
- Independently manage multiple procurement priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Participate in occasional domestic travel to manufacturing locations and supplier sites.
Requirements
- 7+ years of procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience sourcing raw materials, production components, and other manufacturing-related materials.
- Demonstrated understanding of the complete procurement lifecycle, including RFQs, supplier selection, negotiations, purchase order issuance, expediting, and supplier management.
- Strong supplier negotiation, relationship management, and contract management skills.
- Experience developing and executing strategic sourcing and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Hands-on experience using an ERP system to manage purchasing and procurement activities; experience with IFS, SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms is acceptable.
- Ability to analyze supplier pricing, lead times, delivery performance, and sourcing opportunities to support business decisions.
- Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Operations, Engineering, Sales, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant professional experience will also be considered.
- Ability to travel domestically approximately 10%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Procurement experience within electronics, magnetics, electro-mechanical, component, or industrial manufacturing environments.
- Experience with IFS Cloud or a similar ERP platform.
- Strong background in strategic sourcing, supplier development, and supplier performance improvement.
- CPSM, CSCP, CPM, or related supply chain/procurement certification is a plus.
