Job summary

Qualdoc is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Materials Manager in Marietta, OH to lead material planning, purchasing coordination, and inventory management for complex engineered-to-order projects.

You will guide the Buyer Planner team and partner with Project Management, Engineering, Sales, and Production to improve material availability and supplier performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • 7–10+ years of progressive supply chain experience in manufacturing.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience leading buyers/planners.
  • Experience managing materials planning and procurement in electromechanical/industrial environments.
  • Strong ERP/MRP experience with SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, or similar platforms.
  • Proven supplier performance program management (QBRs, SCARs, improvements).
  • APICS CPIM/CSCP or ISM C.P.M./CPSM certification preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with vendor-managed inventory, consignment, or supplier stocking.

Supply Chain Materials Manager

Location: Marietta, OH
Job Type: Full-Time Direct Hire
Starting Salary: $95,000/year (higher compensation available based on experience)
Travel: Up to 20% (supplier visits, sourcing reviews, and industry events)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Materials Manager to lead material planning, purchasing coordination, inventory management, and supplier performance within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring materials are available to support production schedules, customer commitments, and complex engineered-to-order projects.

The Materials Manager will lead the Buyer Planner team while partnering with Project Management, Engineering, Sales, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain leadership to improve material availability, optimize inventory, reduce supply risks, and strengthen supplier performance.

Materials Planning & Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Buyer Planner team while managing daily purchasing and planning activities.
  • Assign workloads, monitor performance, and support team development through coaching and training.
  • Ensure effective use of ERP/MRP systems for purchasing, planning, inventory control, and exception management.
  • Support project schedules by aligning material availability with production requirements and delivery commitments.
Supply Chain & Project Support
  • Partner with Project Managers to review new projects, identify long-lead materials, and evaluate supply risks.
  • Monitor material shortages and lead cross-functional resolution efforts.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Operations to provide realistic lead time expectations and demand visibility.
  • Support configure-to-order (CTO) and engineered-to-order (ETO) manufacturing programs.
  • Provide supply chain input for project planning, scheduling, and customer commitments.
Supplier & Inventory Management
  • Manage supplier performance through delivery, quality, responsiveness, and corrective action metrics.
  • Lead supplier reviews, improvement initiatives, and escalation activities when needed.
  • Support supplier qualification, sourcing strategies, and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Manage inventory health, including inventory turns, excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory, safety stock, and working capital.
  • Develop strategies to balance material availability with inventory investment.
ERP/MRP & Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain accurate ERP data, including item master information, supplier lead times, BOM data, and planning parameters.
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, inventory accuracy, and supply chain efficiency.
  • Develop and report supply chain metrics, including material availability, supplier performance, inventory levels, and shortage trends.
  • Support Lean initiatives, process improvements, and warehouse optimization efforts.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7–10+ years of progressive supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading or supervising buyers, planners, or supply chain teams.
  • Experience managing materials planning and procurement in an electromechanical, electrical equipment, or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, IFS, or similar platforms.
  • Proven success improving inventory performance while maintaining production support and material availability.
  • Experience managing supplier performance programs, including QBRs, SCARs, and supplier improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively with Project Management, Sales, Engineering, Production, Quality, and Finance teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification; ISM C.P.M. or CPSM certification.
  • Experience with power distribution products such as:
    • PDCs
    • STS systems
    • RPPs
    • Switchgear
    • UPS systems
    • Knowledge of UL, ANSI, NEMA, NEC, and IEC standards related to power distribution equipment.
    • Experience managing sourcing strategies for electromechanical components such as breakers, transformers, enclosures, bus assemblies, and power electronics.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with vendor-managed inventory (VMI), consignment programs, blanket purchase orders, or supplier stocking agreements.
  • Experience managing international suppliers, imports, and customs processes.
