The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Purchasing Manager to lead the Purchasing and Procurement function. This role owns procurement strategy, supplier performance, purchasing execution, cost management, and team development to ensure material availability and operational success.

What You'll Do
Procurement Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the Purchasing and Procurement function to support production, project execution, and company growth.
- Develop and execute procurement strategies focused on cost control, supplier performance, and material availability.
- Partner with Supply Chain leadership to establish sourcing priorities, supplier diversification strategies, and risk mitigation plans.
- Monitor key procurement metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while ensuring accountability for quality, delivery, responsiveness, and pricing.
- Support supplier negotiations, pricing agreements, contracts, and service-level expectations.
- Review supplier scorecards, performance trends, and corrective action plans.
- Lead escalation efforts related to shortages, delivery delays, quality concerns, and supply disruptions.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability to the Purchasing Supervisor and assigned procurement team members.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee development initiatives.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, urgency, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure team members follow established purchasing procedures and company standards.
Operational Excellence & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Oversee purchasing execution, purchase order accuracy, and procurement data integrity within ERP systems.
- Monitor material availability and procurement risks to support production readiness.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Warehouse, Quality, Project Management, Sales, Accounting, and Operations teams to align purchasing priorities.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, reporting, automation, and operational efficiency.
What You Bring
- 8+ years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or related manufacturing experience.
- 3+ years of leadership or management experience within a procurement or purchasing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Procurement, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of procurement strategy, supplier management, sourcing, contract support, and cost control.
- Experience working within major ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, or similar).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting, pivot tables, and KPI tracking.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams, solve problems, and drive measurable business improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in industrial manufacturing or engineered-to-order environments.
- Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, CPP, Lean Six Sigma, or similar credentials.
- Experience with supplier scorecards, supplier business reviews, contracts, SLAs, and strategic sourcing programs.
