Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. is seeking a Machinist in the Punch Press area for the Montpelier, IN facility on 2nd shift (2:00 PM–10:00 PM; training on 1st shift). Compensation starts at $25.94/hour with a 5% shift differential.

You’ll set up and operate punch press tooling, read blueprints with close tolerances, and collaborate with engineering for die improvements. Work environment is on the production floor with oil, noise, and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two+ years in a tool shop environment; CNC experience preferred.
• Emphasis in stampings and press die setup or machine repair preferred.
• Basic computer skills to enter data and look up job information.
• Mathematical ability (algebra, percentages, ratios) and trigonometry essentials.
• Able to read blueprints with close tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate various types of tool room and punch press equipment.
• Plans and arranges machining sequence, confirms tool design intent by utilizing measuring instrumentation to close tolerances.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose forming problems with progressive stamping dies.
• Operate die cart and crane to move and lift dies.
• Complete tooling changes, sharpening and repair in die.
• Complete general maintenance and cleaning on dies.
• Operate PIVs.
• Work with blueprints with close tolerance.
• Maintain housekeeping standards.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Grinding.
• Tool design and hand sharpening (cutting tools).
• Upkeep of machines, minor maintenance.
