Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and grow strong relationships with agricultural and farm customers.
  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the agricultural, irrigation, dairy, and related markets.
  • Follow up consistently with customers, leads, quotes, and active projects.
  • Evaluate customer needs and recommend appropriate pump system solutions.
  • Prepare quotes, proposals, and project scopes.
  • Assist customers with pump repairs, replacements, upgrades, and new system needs.
  • Coordinate with the internal operations team on project specifications, scheduling, and timelines.
  • Manage projects from initial opportunity through completion.
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding expectations, timelines, pricing, and project status.
  • Diagnose pump system issues and recommend effective solutions.
  • Evaluate existing equipment and help design efficient replacement systems.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Manage time effectively during both peak and off-peak seasons.
  • Represent American Pump & Drilling professionally in the field and with customers.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.

Job description

American Pump & Drilling is a fast-growing local business looking for a self-motivated, reliable, and relationship-driven individual to join our team. APD has physical locations in Ucon, Idaho; Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Afton, Wyoming, and specializes in delivering water through well drilling, pump systems, motor repair, machining, and related water system services.

This position will be local and based out of Idaho Falls, Idaho, with a primary focus on serving agricultural and farm customers throughout the region.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Pump Sales / Project Manager to develop and manage customer relationships, primarily within the agricultural and farm industry. This role will focus on helping farmers, growers, dairies, irrigation customers, and related agricultural operations with pump system needs, equipment replacement, repairs, upgrades, and project planning.

This is a commissioned sales position that requires strong relationship-building skills, consistent follow-up, technical understanding, and the ability to manage opportunities from first conversation through project completion. The ideal candidate is confident, organized, responsive, and comfortable working with customers in the field.

This role is best suited for someone who understands that long-term trust, communication, and follow-through are key to success.

Key Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in agricultural sales, irrigation, pumping systems, or related industries
  • Existing relationships within the farm, agricultural, dairy, or irrigation markets
  • Sales experience in technical, industrial, or equipment-related products
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working with rotating equipment such as pumps
  • Ability to read and interpret basic technical specifications
  • Familiarity with line shaft turbine pumps, submersible pumps, centrifugal pumps, VFDs, motors, wells, and irrigation systems
Compensation

This is a commissioned position. Compensation will be based on sales performance, experience, relationships, work ethic, and overall contribution to the company.

Schedule

40-60 hours per week, dependent on workload and season.
