Job summary

American Pump & Drilling in Idaho Falls is seeking a self-motivated mechanic to maintain our fleet and heavy equipment, including drill rigs and support trucks. The role requires diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and supporting DOT inspections, repairs, and compliance.

We value independent work, attention to detail, and clear communication. Overtime and a strong work ethic are expected in a busy field service environment with bonus opportunities and benefits after 90 days.

Qualifications

• Experience with heavy equipment and fleet maintenance.
• Experience with DOT inspections and fleet compliance.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to work independently, manage a to-do list, and stay accountable with limited supervision.
• Attention to detail and clear verbal and written communication.
• Willingness to learn through on-the-job training and work overtime when needed.
• CDL preferred.

American Pump & Drilling (APD) is a growing local business looking for a self-motivated, reliable mechanic to help maintain our fleet and heavy equipment. APD is part of the Northstar Summit family of service businesses. APD has locations in Ucon and Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Afton, Wyoming. This position works with APD’s fleet and is based in Idaho Falls.

• Maintain and repair fleet vehicles and heavy equipment, including drill rigs, truck rigs, service trucks, backhoes, compressors, and trailers.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Support DOT inspections, required repairs, recordkeeping, and compliance for applicable fleet vehicles and trailers.
• Follow safety procedures and help keep equipment ready for work.

Schedule and compensation

• Approximately 40–60 hours per week, depending on workload and season.
• Pay based on skills, experience, and work ethic.
• Overtime as needed.
