Job description

American Pump & Drilling is a growing local company looking for a motivated and dependable Submersible Pump Technician to join our team. American Pump & Drilling serves customers throughout Eastern Idaho, Western Wyoming, and Southern Montana with residential, agricultural, municipal, and commercial water systems. This position will primarily focus on residential and house pump systems and will be based out of our Ucon, Idaho location.

Position Overview

The Submersible Pump Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and servicing residential well pump systems and related equipment. This role involves hands‑on field work, operating service equipment, diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues, and providing professional customer service while working independently and alongside team members.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
  • Drive and operate pump service rigs and related equipment
  • Troubleshoot residential and submersible pump systems
  • Install, remove, and repair submersible pumps, motors, pipe, wire, and pressure systems
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues related to water systems
  • Wire and troubleshoot pump motors, control boxes, pressure switches, and related components
  • Perform service calls and emergency repairs as needed
  • Maintain accurate job documentation and service records
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment
  • Communicate professionally with customers and team members
  • Follow company safety procedures and jobsite protocols
  • Work overtime when necessary to meet customer and operational demands
Desired Qualifications & Skills
  • 2+ years of experience working with residential or submersible pump systems preferred
  • Experience operating a pump rig or similar equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of residential well systems, pressure tanks, controls, and pump assemblies
  • Electrical troubleshooting and wiring experience preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physical labor safely
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • CDL beneficial but not required
  • MSHA certifications are a plus
  • Willingness to learn and receive on‑the‑job training
