Job summary

Hawaii Public Utilities Commission is seeking a field-based inspector to represent the agency across a county-wide neighbor island district. You will conduct field visits with utility and transportation companies and respond to customer complaints.

The role requires preparing reports, serving as liaison with state and local agencies, and ensuring compliance with PUC rules. Strong analytical and communication skills, plus a valid driver's license, are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Two and a half (2-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional work experience with analytical skills and report writing.
• At least one year of professional work experience with significant public contact.
• Valid driver’s license at time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Represent the PUC for a county-wide neighbor island district; conduct field visits with utility/transportation companies; respond to customer complaints and draft findings.
• Monitor and report on utility/transportation companies for compliance with PUC rules; liaise with state, municipal and other agencies; provide information to the public.
