Job summary

DeKalb County Government seeks a capable supervisor to lead street, water, sewer, and maintenance operations. The role requires strong leadership, safety adherence, and the ability to coordinate field teams across multiple projects.

Responsibilities include on-site reviews, reporting to authorities, and ensuring high-quality work while complying with all regulations. A CDL and related certifications are required for certain assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Five years of experience in the construction, repair, and/or maintenance of public infrastructure or related field.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Class B Commercial Driver's License; some assignments may require a Georgia Class A CDL and/or special endorsements.
• May require SWANA certification within one year of employment depending upon area of assignment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; processes employee concerns and problems; directs work and completes performance appraisals.
• Coordinates daily work activities; prioritizes, assigns tasks, inspects work, and ensures safety and quality standards.
• Conducts on-site work reviews; ensures efficient use of resources and compliance with codes, laws, rules, and safety procedures.
• Prepares operational and statistical reports for streets, water and sewer projects, maintenance and solid waste activities; submits records to state and federal authorities.
• Operates a variety of heavy equipment and trucks listed in the job ad; performs maintenance on machinery as required.
• Communicates with supervisor, other departments, staff, customers, and the public to coordinate work and resolve problems.
