Job summary

The City of Manhattan is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support Public Works across street, traffic, stormwater, wastewater, and water distribution tasks. The role includes operating heavy equipment, performing routine maintenance, and assisting in securing safe worksites during projects.

Responsibilities cover snow/ice removal, sign and pavement marking repairs, and responding to emergencies. A high school diploma and a valid driver's license are required; CDL and Work Zone certs may be

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL and endorsements if applicable (Class A with airbrakes and tanker within 90 days).
• Work Zone certification for Traffic division within 24 months of employment.
• Two years’ relevant experience in construction or related area.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain vehicles and equipment, including trucks and power/hand tools.
• Assist in securing worksites and ensure safety.
• Maintain records of work performed and respond to inquiries.
• Coordinate with contractors and developers on repairs and maintenance.
• Participation in meetings and training as required.
• Performs street, traffic, stormwater, wastewater, and water distribution duties as assigned.
