Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach Public Works - Building Maintenance division is hiring several Plumbers. You will install, repair, and maintain piping fittings and fixtures in City buildings in accordance with trade best practices. The position may be filled as Plumber I or II based on qualifications.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, maintaining sewer lift stations, documenting daily records, and coordinating work orders. Health and retirement benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school or GED plus plumbing experience; valid driver’s license.
• For Plumber II, 3 years of plumbing experience and Backflow License within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures and waste systems in City buildings.
• Troubleshoot and perform repairs on sinks, toilets, water heaters, pumps, and fixtures.
• Operate hand and power tools following safety procedures.
• Review blueprints, document comments, and process work orders.
• Plan sequences of work within Plumbing and coordinate with other trades and contractors.
• Supervise and assist subordinate employees and maintain records.
