Job summary

The City of Kenmore is seeking a Public Works Operations Manager to oversee divisions within the Public Works Operations Department. This role directs street, park, storm water, and fleet maintenance programs under the Operations Director, coordinating budgets, staff, and contract management in a dynamic city environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of local government operations.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations.
• Knowledge of public works operations, services and activities.
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles to ensure proper construction and code compliance.
• Working knowledge of materials, methods, practices and equipment used in public works maintenance.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and safe work practices.
• Knowledge of supervision, training, and personnel management.
• Knowledge of budgeting procedures and math skills for cost projections.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and directs maintenance and repair of streets, parks, facilities, and storm water infrastructure.
• Develops annual and seasonal work schedules; assigns and monitors work activities.
• Directs contracts for public works services with vendors.
• Supervises division staff; provides training and handles personnel matters.
• Coordinates with other departments and agencies to align activities.
• Participates in planning for maintenance and capital projects; supports budget development.
• Oversees new processes and ensures compliance with department policies.
• Responds to emergencies on a 24-hour basis and supports safety programs.
