Job summary

The City of Manhattan, Kansas, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join the Public Works team. The role involves operating trucks and heavy equipment, performing vehicle maintenance, ensuring safe worksites, and responding to public inquiries.

You will also maintain records and collaborate with contractors, with duties across street, stormwater, wastewater, and water distribution functions. Work is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with potential overtime and seasonal duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Operates single/tandem axle trucks, heavy equipment, and various power/hand tools.
• Performs routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Maintains safe worksites by proper placement of warning devices and use of protective equipment.
• Responds to public and staff inquiries regarding the division.
• Keeps records of work completed and coordinates with contractors and developers.
• Attends meetings and training as required.
