The City of Manhattan, Kansas is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join the Public Works team. You will help in asphalt/concrete repairs, snow removal, street maintenance, and stormwater tasks while assisting in day-to-day operations and documentation.

Responsibilities include operating trucks and equipment, performing routine maintenance, coordinating with contractors, and supporting overtime or emergency response as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Obtain and maintain a Class A CDL with airbrakes and tanker endorsement within 90 days (Class B for Traffic).
• Work Zone certification within 24 months.

Responsabilités

• Operate single/tandem axle trucks, heavy equipment, and power/hand tools.
• Perform routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Assists in securing work areas and maintaining safe worksites with warning devices and PPE.
• Answers and responds to public and staff inquiries regarding the division.
• Maintains records regarding work completed.
• Works with contractors and developers on repairs and maintenance.
• Attends meetings and trainings as required.
• Responds to emergency call-backs and overtime as needed.
• Division-specific duties may include sign production, landscaping, yard repair, meter repairs, and RROW mowing.

Formation

High school diploma or equivalent

Valid driver’s license

CDL Class A with airbrakes and tanker endorsement within 90 days

Work Zone certification within 24 months
