The City of Manhattan, Kansas is seeking a Maintenance Technician to contribute to public works by performing general maintenance and operating vehicles and equipment. This role supports multiple divisions including Street, Traffic, Stormwater, Wastewater Sewer, and Water Distribution, performing repairs, inspections, and emergency response as needed.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and a Class A CDL with airbrakes and tanker endorsement

Formación

• Two years’ relevant experience in construction or related area.

Responsabilidades

• Operates single/tandem axle trucks, heavy equipment, and various power/hand tools.
• Performs routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Assists in securing work areas and maintaining safe worksites by placement of appropriate warning devices while wearing special protective devices.
• Answers and responds to public and staff inquiries regarding related division.
• Maintains records regarding work completed.
• Works with contractors and developers on repairs and maintenance.
• Attends meetings and training as required.
• Repairs asphalt and concrete pavement.
• Performs snow and ice removal, spring clean-up and flood mitigation as required.
• Places new and repairs sign and pavement markings
• Conducts inspections and field work related to the stormwater management and stormwater drainage system.
• Performs snow and ice removal, spring clean-up, flood mitigation and levee maintenance.
• Performs preventative maintenance on the city’s sewer gathering system by operating line maintenance equipment.
• Repairs and maintains pipelines, valves, fire hydrants, water services, meters, and other related equipment.
• Responds to emergency call-backs, including seasonal emergencies.
• Works overtime as needed to complete regular and seasonal work.
• Assists supervisors and other departmental personnel in other projects for the benefit of the City and/or department.
• Division-specific duties may include: production of signs, landscaping, yard repair, meter repairs, and road right-of-way (RROW) mowing.
