Job summary

The City of Lewisville is offering an internship in Public Works to support GIS data collection, field surveying, and ADA-related assessments. Earn hands-on experience with infrastructure data, budgeting, and reporting while contributing to real projects used by staff for planning.

Ideal candidates are pursuing GIS, civil engineering, planning, or data analytics studies and are able to work up to 20 hours per week. Prior Excel experience and basic GIS knowledge are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Coursework or work experience related to GIS, infrastructure or Public Works.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel or data management tools.

Responsibilities

• Collect sidewalk, curb ramp, and pedestrian infrastructure field data using GPS-enabled tools.
• Document condition, ADA/PROWAG factors, and GPS-referenced information.
• Produce GIS-ready sidewalk datasets, maps, and spatial layers for staff review.
• Assist in CIP budget review and benchmarking tasks.
• Collaborate with Engineering, GIS, Planning and Streets staff on projects.
