Job summary

City of Hopewell is seeking a seasoned Director of Public Works to lead and direct engineering operations, construction projects, and stormwater program management. The role oversees staff, contracts, and budgets while ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

The position may assume Director duties in their absence. The incumbent will manage CIP projects, coordinate with other departments, prepare council briefings, and represent the department in public meetings.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: BS in Civil Engineering or related field with extensive supervisory experience in civil engineering/public works.
• Must possess licenses/certifications related to civil/public works administration as described.
• Strong leadership, communication, and project management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct engineering operations and construction project management.
• Oversee consultants, contracts, budgets, and CIP programs.
• Supervise staff and coordinate staff training and performance.
