Job summary

Hopewell Recreation and Parks seeks a seasoned professional to oversee maintenance of all city facilities, parks, and public recreation areas. The role supervises maintenance staff, coordinates schedules, and ensures safety standards are met across multiple sites.

Responsibilities include budget support, bids, and vendor oversight, plus collaboration with schools and other city departments to optimize resource use. Strong leadership and customer-service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in recreation management, maintenance management, business administration, or related field and considerable experience in facility or parks management.
• Five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in recreation and/or parks and facilities management, including three years in supervision.
• Two years of project management, playground development, and facility oversight.
• Two years of experience with park equipment and related machinery.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance operations for all department facilities, parks, playgrounds, and public recreation areas.
• Supervise maintenance staff, recruit and schedule, evaluate performance, and enforce safety standards.
• Assist with annual operating and capital budgets; obtain bids and oversee contracting and vendor work.
• Coordinate athletic field schedules and facility use with schools and city departments.
• Maintain department fleet control and procurement of assets; manage inventories.
• Provide exceptional internal and external customer service and represent the department externally.
