Job summary

City of Hopewell, VA is seeking a seasoned maintenance administrator to oversee all departments’ facilities, parks, and public recreation areas. You will supervise maintenance staff, coordinate with schools and city departments, and manage budgets and contracts.

The role emphasizes safety inspections, vendor oversight, and strategic planning for facilities master plans. Evening/weekend work and emergency response readiness are possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in recreation/maintenance management or related field and considerable experience in facility/maintenance management.
• Five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in recreation and/or parks and facilities management, including supervisory experience.
• Two years of project management, playground development, and facility oversight experience.
• Certifications: CPRP, CPSI, AFO, CDL, or Heavy Equipment Operator are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees maintenance operations for all facilities and parks.
• Supervises department managers and maintenance staff.
• Assists with annual operating and capital budgets; secures quotes and bids.
• Administers contracts; inspects contractor work and park equipment.
• Coordinates athletic field schedules and facility use with schools and city departments.
• Provides excellent internal and external customer service.
• Manages fleet/equipment procurement and inventories.
• Supports special events and emergency operations as needed.
