Job summary

Halff is seeking a Public Works Intern to join our Houston, TX office. The Civil Engineering Intern will support Public Works and Transportation projects under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.

The internship offers full-time hours (40/week) with hourly compensation. You will gain hands-on experience across design, drafting, calculations, and regulatory documentation while collaborating with surveyors, architects, and clients.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering Degree.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Self-motivated with good organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design civil engineering projects under supervision of a Professional Engineer.
• Assist in preparing plans, specs, and cost estimates for Public Works and Transportation projects.
• Perform drafting CAD work.
• Perform calculations and analysis for design projects.
• Assist in permit applications and regulatory documents.
• Coordinate with surveyors, architects, and contractors.
• Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies.
