Job summary

Halff is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join the Public Works/Transportation team in our Fort Smith, AR office. The internship runs from June 7, 2027 to August 13, 2027, with a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week, typically 8a-5p, Monday through Friday.

The role involves assisting in design and preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Public Works/Transportation projects, CAD drafting, and coordinating with project teams and clients.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering Degree.
• Excellent communication abilities and teamwork are essential.
• Strong organizational skills and self-motivation are required.

Responsibilities

• Design civil engineering projects under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
• Assist in preparing plans, specs, and cost estimates for Public Works/Transportation projects.
• Perform drafting CAD work and design calculations.
• Assist in permit applications and regulatory documents.
• Coordinate with surveyors, architects, and contractors; attend client/regulatory meetings.
