Job summary

Halff Associates, Inc. is seeking a Public Works Intern for our Fort Smith, AR office to support Civil Engineering projects in Public Works and Transportation.

The internship runs from June 7, 2027 to August 13, 2027, with responsibilities including project design, plan preparation, CAD drafting, and coordination with the project team. Applicants should be pursuing a Civil Engineering degree (ABET-accredited preferred) and demonstrate strong communication, organization, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering Degree
• Great communication skills

• Self-motivated and strong organization skills

Responsibilities

• Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer
• Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Public Works and Transportation projects
• Perform drafting CAD work
• Perform calculations and analysis for design projects
• Assist in the preparation of permit applications and other regulatory documents
• Coordinate with other team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors
• Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies
