Job summary

The City of Vancouver is seeking a customer-service oriented individual to serve as the first point of contact for walk-in, email, and telephone inquiries related to utility and public works. You will manage accounts, educate customers on billing procedures, and process payments in a fast-paced office environment.

This full-time, union position operates Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm with standard cashiering practices and access to a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• One year of customer service experience including the maintenance of customer or other formal records and/or cashiering.
• Equivalent to a HS Diploma/GED. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Experience with databases and MS Office applications is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide information and assistance to citizens via email, on the telephone and in-person to citizens with inquiries and complaints.
• Advise customers of fees, services, and billing procedures.
• Perform utility account management duties, including researching account information; educate customers and take ownership of providing solutions.
• Dispatch Public Works crews, cashier, process payments, and receipt funds for the City of Vancouver.
• Refer calls or complex issues to appropriate department and/or City personnel; set up, operate and maintain equipment used for mailing notices.
