Job summary

Santa Cruz METRO seeks a Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance programs ensuring a safe, reliable and service-ready fleet. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and works as a peer to the Facilities Maintenance Manager, providing short-term administrative and emergency coverage where needed.

The ideal candidate has extensive heavy-duty fleet maintenance experience, supervisory background, and familiarity with diesel, electric-vehicle, and fuel-cell technology, along with

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Eight years of progressively responsible fleet maintenance experience, with at least four years in supervisory or management roles.
• Post-secondary education, technical training, or professional certification may substitute for up to two years of non-supervisory experience.
• A bachelor’s degree in a related field is desirable.
• Public-transit or public-agency experience is desirable.
• Familiarity with heavy-duty vehicle equipment; diesel, battery-electric, and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle technology; budgets and labor relations; and related regulatory requirements is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise fleet maintenance programs to keep the fleet safe, reliable, and in good repair.
• Provide short-term administrative and emergency coverage under delegated authority.
• Collaborate with the Facilities Maintenance Manager as peers.
• Support compliance with applicable transit agency rules and reporting requirements.
