Job summary

Hamilton County is seeking a Labor & Employee Relations Specialist to provide expert advice on personnel matters, policy application, and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements across BOCC departments. The role involves proactive employee relations management, investigations, and contributing to training program development.

The position focuses on supporting collective bargaining processes, drafting grievance responses, and managing unemployment compensation for BOCC departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources management/personnel administration or related field.
• Two years related experience.
• Must be able to apply this knowledge to practical work situations through effective human relations skills.
• Or equivalent combinations of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice to directors, managers, and employees on personnel matters, policy application, and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements.
• Conduct investigations into potential violations of policies and collective bargaining agreement provisions.
• Assist in all aspects of collective bargaining, including costing labor contracts and managing processes for finalizing agreements.
• Assist in drafting responses to grievances and prepare for hearings, mediations, and arbitrations; update the status and outcomes of filed grievances.
• Manage unemployment compensation for BOCC departments and other Appointing Authorities.
