Job summary

Lubbock County is seeking an experienced administrative and accounting professional to manage departmental budgeting, grants, and financial reporting. You will oversee internal controls, accounts payable/receivable, and liaise with the County Auditor’s office, Board of Judges, and Commissioners’ Court.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Experience with governmental budgeting and grant management preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and interact with the public.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare departmental budgets for approval by Director and County bodies.
  • Monitor and modify internal controls.
  • Research and write grant applications; secure funding.
  • Prepare financial and operational reports for grants compliance.
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable and vendor payments.
  • Maintain records and produce end-of-activity reports.
  • Perform audits of internal programs.
  • Edit and utilize financial forms.
  • Respond to inquiries from vendors and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and county policies.
