Job summary

The City of Pasadena, Texas is seeking a Buyer II to assist the Purchasing Manager with procuring goods and services for city operations. You will prepare bid specs, analyze bids, and coordinate formal solicitations in compliance with state and city codes.

Responsibilities include processing contracts, reviewing requisitions, sourcing suppliers, and assisting with council agenda packets. A degree, public sector purchasing experience, and Texas driver’s license are required; CPPO/CPPB/CPM

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree or higher in business or related area.
• Minimum 2-3 years of public sector purchasing experience or a combination of education and experience.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Preferred: CPPO, CPPB, or CPM certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist Purchasing Manager with procuring goods and services for city.
• Prepare bid specifications and documents for formal solicitations.
• Stay informed on state and federal procurement laws.
• Evaluate bids and recommend bid awards.
• Prepare agenda packets for Council meetings to award contracts.
• Process contracts including insurance and bonds verification.
• Review requisitions for completeness and necessary information.
• Source suppliers, request/evaluate quotes, and select suppliers.
• Investigate complaints and ensure requirements are met.
• Participate in meetings to review specs and ensure compliance.
• Research new products and develop accurate specifications.
