Job summary

City of Pasadena, TX is seeking a Buyer II to support the Purchasing Manager in procuring goods and services for the City. The role involves preparing bid specifications, evaluating quotations, and ensuring compliance with state and city procurement codes.

Candidates should have an associate degree or higher, 2–3 years public sector purchasing experience, and a Texas driver’s license; CPPO/CPPB/CPM certifications are preferred. This is a full-time, on-site position with generous benefits.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher in business or related field.
• 2–3 years of work experience in public sector purchasing or related field, or a combination of education and experience.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• CPPO, CPPB, or CPM certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Purchasing Manager in coordinating procurement activities for goods and services.
• Prepare bid specifications and documents for formal solicitations in line with State and City codes.
• Review requisitions for completeness and select sources, request quotes, and evaluate suppliers.
• Prepare agendas for Council meetings to award contracts or make one-time purchases.
• Ensure compliance with procurement laws and maintain licenses and qualifications.
