Job summary

Maryland Higher Education Commission in Baltimore, MD, seeks an experienced Director of Budget and Administration to lead the agency's budgeting, financial reviews, accounting, and reporting functions. You will serve as the point person for audits and coordinate across divisions to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Reporting to the Assistant Secretary of Finance and Administration, you will apply GAAP principles and data-driven decision-making to optimize resources for Maryland's public higher

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 3+ credit hours in auditing.
• Five years examining accounting systems and applying GAAP.
• Two years supervising fiscal, accounting, payroll, budget, grants and procurement staff.
• Experience with Maryland accounting systems such as R*STARS or FMIS.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the agency's overall budget and financial plans.
• Perform financial reviews and ensure accurate accounting and reporting.
• Coordinate with divisions to support compliance and governance.
• Serve as the point person for audits and audit readiness.
