Job summary

Maryland Higher Education Commission seeks an experienced Budget Director with data-driven financial leadership in government budgeting. This management service role reports to the Assistant Secretary of Finance and Administration and the Secretary.

You will develop and manage the agency's budget, oversee accounting and financial reporting, coordinate audits, and support capital projects and year-end closeouts. Strong collaboration with MSDE liaison and attention to compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with auditing coursework.
• Five years of experience examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports using GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the agency's overall budget and perform regular financial reviews of all budgets.
• Manage accounting and financial reporting transactions and payments.
• Serve as the agency's point of contact for audits and for audits responses.
• Complete special projects as requested by the Assistant Secretary of Finance and Administration and the Secretary.
• Lead payroll processing oversight and advise on fiscal impact of personnel actions.
