Job summary

The City and County of Denver seeks an Accounting Technician I within Denver Human Services to perform high-volume accounts payable and related payments. You will work with Workday and other systems, supporting internal and external customers while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

This role requires attention to detail and strong communication in a dynamic, hybrid environment. You will contribute to process improvements, assist the Payment Services team, and train others as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years clerical experience, including one year financial recordkeeping.
• Experience in government or human services preferred.
• Additional education may substitute for minimum experience.

Responsibilities

• Gift card issuance: verify documentation, issue physical and electronic gift cards, reconcile and secure inventory.
• RTD bus ticket issuance: verify docs, issue tickets, reconcile inventory, secure on-site tickets.
• Emergency checks: verify docs, create vendor records in Workday, input check requests for issuance.
• Assist in developing and maintaining procedures and audit documents for emergency payment, gift card and RTD ticket processes.
• Assist with accounts payable duties by reviewing vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and approvals, using state/city/databases for tracking.
