Job summary

The City of Pueblo Civil Service is looking to hire an Accounting Technician IV to work independently and provide excellent customer service. You’ll process tax and returns payments, reconcile batches, create taxpayer accounts, and troubleshoot customer accounts via phone, email, and in person.

Qualifications

• An associate degree in accounting or business with at least 3 years in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, accounting, or sales tax processing.
• A high school diploma or GED with at least 5 years in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, accounting, or sales tax processing.

Responsibilities

• Process customer tax/payments accurately and reconcile batches to payments.
• Create new taxpayer accounts and troubleshoot customer accounts.
• Assist customers with Sales/Use Tax information via phone, email, and in-person.

As an Accounting Technician IV, you’ll work independently, take initiative, and provide excellent customer service. You’ll pay attention to detail when processing customer tax /returns payments, reconciling batches to payments, creating new taxpayer accounts, and trouble shooting customers’ accounts. Additionally, you’ll assist customers with Sales/Use Tax Information via phone, email, and in-person.This full-time position offers you a variety of benefits that provide a great work/life balance and an annual salary of $52,899.24 - $72,395.28.

Qualifications

• A valid driver’s license at the time of application, and a valid Colorado driver’s license within 30 days of employment
  • License restrictions that may hinder your ability to drive on City business, such as an interlock, will be cause for disqualification
  • During the course of employment, a valid license must be maintained, and the employee must notify the City immediately upon changes to the status of their license
• Candidates also must meet one of the following combinations of education and experience:
• An associate degree in accounting or business from an accredited college or university and at least three (3) years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, accounting, or sales tax processing
• OR
• A high school diploma or GED and at least five (5) years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, accounting, or sales tax processing
