Job summary

Charleston County Consolidated Emergency Communications Center (ECC) is seeking a Peer Support Coordinator to lead the Peer Support Team within the Public Safety Directorate. You will oversee program administration, education, and continuous improvement while serving as a dedicated advocate for peer support across departments.

The role requires leadership under stress, coordination with clinical leadership, and ongoing certification compliance. Open until filled; hourly pay range listed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years as a Peer Support Team member in a public safety environment.
• Peer Support Specialist Certification required.
• Must possess a current NCIC certification or obtain within six months of hire date.
• Must have no felony convictions; misdemeanors evaluated case-by-case.
• Pass a background investigation and pre-employment physical and psychological evaluation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
• Must possess a valid SC Driver’s License (or obtain within three months).

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the Peer Support program for the ECC and other Public Safety Directorate departments in coordination with the clinical director.
• Administers, monitors, develops, and evaluates the Peer Support Team.
• Assists in developing Peer Support program procedures.
• Coordinates communication between the clinical director and Peer Support Team.
• Disseminates educational materials and resources for the Peer Support program.
• Maintains Peer Support Team records.
• Analyzes, evaluates, and reports on the state of the Peer Support program.
• Coordinates the response for Critical Incident Stress Management and Debriefing and other resources.
• Participates in departmental activations during emergency events.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
